ReMA member HW Green Company, Inc. in Plainville, Connecticut was named one of the Hartford Business Journal’s 2024 Family Business Award winners, as well as the Central Region (CT) Chamber of Commerce Community Business Award winner. The awards will be presented to President Krista Ostuno, and her husband, Vice President Jeff Ostuno on June 5 at the Chamber of Commerce presentation and on June 12 at the Hartford Business Journal presentation.
“We value our place in the local community and are very proud of both awards,” said Krista. “To have a metal recycler as part of these two lists is an important step in sharing what we do as an industry with the public. Having only taken over the existing facility less than three years ago, it has been a priority for HW Green to not only be a positive community member, but to highlight the essential importance of metal recycling.”
The Hartford Business Journal Family Business Awards recognize outstanding achievements in family-owned businesses and tell the story of a select group of the region’s most successful firms. HW Green was nominated for the Chamber of Commerce Award by local Chamber business owner members for the organization’s community involvement.
HW Green is active in local schools through outreach and has hosted events at the facility during the past year for both policymakers, and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, and other civic groups.
