The U.S. Department of Labor has compiled a list of useful resources from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). These cover everything from heat illness prevention, avian flu and Ebola safety, to trucker driver carbon monoxide poisoning.

Heat Proposed Rule

New Heat Illness Prevention Resources
OSHA published two new heat resources for workers and employers:
- Pocket-sized Brochure: Working in the Heat: Know the Hazards.
- Heat Emergency Wallet Card.
New Hazard Communication Fact Sheet
Final Rule Modifying the Hazard Communication Standard to Maintain Alignment with the GHS went into effect July 19, 2024. For more information, see the Hazard Communication Rulemaking webpage.
Avian Flu Resource
OSHA published a Hazard Alert, H5N1 (Avian Influenza) in Dairy Cattle describing recent infections, at-risk workers, and protection measures, and updated their safety and health topics page. See also CDC’s interim recommendations and infographic (also in Spanish).
New Maritime Resources
Maritime posters: Five Ways to Respond in an Emergency and Stay Safe at Maritime Facilities. Both are available in English and Spanish.
Ebola Safety and Health Topic Page Update
OSHA’s Ebola Safety and Health Topic page provides information about vaccines and clarifies precautions for workers who are most at risk.
Silica Resource in Portuguese and Vietnamese
The Small Entity Compliance Guide on the silica standard for construction is now available in Portuguese and Vietnamese.
Whistleblower Fact Sheets Now in Haitian Creole
Fact sheets on the Whistleblower Protection Program and Filing Whistleblower Complaints under Section 11(c) of the OSH Act are now in Haitian Creole.
On-Site Consultation Fact Sheet
Revised On-Site Consultation Program Fact Sheet, and it’s now available in Spanish.
