Nonferrous recycler MetalX announced it has moved its corporate headquarters from Waterloo, Ind., to a new location in Fort Wayne, Ind., following Australia-based BlueScope’s acquisition of MetalX’s ferrous business on Dec. 17.

MetalX has secured a long-term lease in the Dupont Office Center on the north side of Fort Wayne. Almost 50 people have moved into the new offices, which will be the center for all corporate activities as well as the company’s commercial management and staff.

MetalX offices had been located at one of two locations sold to BlueScope. MetalX had operated four facilities: one in Delta, Ohio, which exclusively handles ferrous; one in Waterloo, which handles ferrous and nonferrous; one in Auburn, Ind., which exclusively handles nonferrous; and a small community recycling facility in Fort Wayne.

Australia’s biggest steelmaker, Melbourne-based BlueScope announced it would pay $240 million to acquire the Delta and Waterloo facilities.
