Safety is the number one core value of ReMA and the recycled materials industry. Recognizing the vital importance of operating safely, or not at all, ReMA is encouraging recyclers to mark their calendars for the annual Safety Stand-Down Week, from Aug. 12-16.

Now is the time to let your team know that you’re participating in ReMA’s Safety Stand Down Week. In conjunction with OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week, the recycled materials industry will come together to review best safety practices at facilities. The goal is simple: proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness.

Each day, ReMA will share videos and bonus printouts for your team to share.

As an early bonus (and a hint to the theme this year) please take a look at this printout.

It’s easy to participate:

  1. Set aside time during Safety Stand Down Week each day to meet with your team for a tailgate talk.
  2. Follow ReMA on LinkedIn for a daily video to share with your team.
  3. Start a conversation with your team about what they saw in the video.

PLUS: Keep an eye out for bonus printouts that you can use at your facility.

Started in 2014, ReMA’s Annual Safety Stand-Down Day asks recyclers to shut down operations for at least one hour on every shift to engage in safety awareness training. The training could take any form, from employee training to a management walk-around, or any other effective safety training method.

By working together, we can help keep our employees safe. Remember, do it safely or not at all.
