On Tuesday morning Nov. 5, the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) joined the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and over 600 business leaders from across the manufacturing economy to sign and release a letter to be sent to the next president, following the election. The letter demonstrated a commitment to work with the next administration regardless of whom the American people chose to send to the White House.
“As the voice of the manufacturing industry, NAM works to ensure that all the elements of the manufacturing supply chain are heard in either administration. And recycling plays a critical role in the manufacturing supply chain,” said ReMA president Robin Wiener.
The letter notes that a strong manufacturing economy is essential for national security, economic resilience, and continued prosperity. It addresses the need to “restore confidence in the future and in the economic systems that have long driven opportunity and innovation, so that American families and businesses can thrive in a united and forward-looking nation.”
The letter also indicates the industry’s commitment to work together to address the country’s challenges noting, “We understand the power of collaboration and are ready to work productively with your administration to tackle the pressing challenges we face. While there may be moments of disagreement, we are committed to addressing those differences with mutual respect and in the spirit of constructive dialogue.”
According to Wiener, the letter reinforces manufacturing’s unique role in bridging the nation’s divides and providing solutions.
“The letter was sent out prior to the election results because our industry was ready and remains ready work with either administration,” she said. “ReMA has been collaborating with NAM’s coalition, Manufacturers for Sensible Regulations, to develop a list of priorities and the best ways to approach those goals for either administration. When we work, we work for our members.”
With the election of Donald Trump as President, ReMA is committed to working with the President-elect. ReMA staff have begun to reach out to Trump’s transition team and the association will do all it can to ensure the continued success of the recycled materials industry over the next four years.
