Sunnking Sustainable Solutions announced the launch of its second “Name the Shredder” contest, inviting residents and businesses nationwide to submit their most creative names for the company’s new electronics shredder. This event celebrates the addition of a larger shredder to Sunnking’s Brockport facility, furthering their mission of responsible electronics recycling according to a press release from the company.

The shredder, an UNTHA RS-100 purchased from Secure Recycling in Solon, Ohio, is a quad-shaft machine, designed for tougher materials and higher volumes of electronics. The previous shredder, a dual-shaft machine, processes a wide range of electronics but at moderate volumes. Upon its arrival, staff constructed the framework utilizing recycled pieces of metal for the shredder to sit on alongside the original shredder.

Participants have until July 8 to submit their entries via the website: sunnking.com/contest. The community can vote on their favorite name between July 9 and July 22, with the winner receiving four tickets to a 2024 Red Wings game or two tickets to a Buffalo Bills preseason game, along with a Sunnking swag bag.

The contest builds upon the success of Sunnking’s 2022 contest, which named the original shredder “Shreddie van Halen.” The award-winning company, New York State’s first R2-certified recycler, processes over 25 million pounds of renewable resource materials annually and has recently rebranded to offer more sustainable solutions for businesses, including global IT asset disposition (ITAD).
