Recycling equipment provider SWEED has introduced the newly redesigned SG1840 granulator, packed with smart upgrades that, according to the company, will boost performance, durability, and ease of use. The new SG1840 has been re-engineered with several significant enhancements:

  • Streamlined Knife Handling: The SG1840 now features a horizontal front knife bed for easier gapping, a new knife gage for quicker adjustments, and toggle clamps for toolless hood access, simplifying knife changes and maintenance.
  • Ergonomic Design: The stand has been shortened by 20 inches, eliminating the need for an additional platform and providing easier access for operators.
  • Robust Structural Enhancements: The new model features a thicker base and front plates for added rigidity and reduced vibration, an even sturdier drive guard for extra durability, and a rotor that’s welded and machined for superior precision and long-lasting performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance & Performance: The idler side flywheel has been removed, and its inertia has been integrated into the drive sheave, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced maintenance. Additionally, the spring-loaded belt tensioner maintains consistent belt tension as the belt stretches and wears, further supporting reliable performance and minimizing maintenance.
  • Simpler Accessibility: An electromagnetic door latch allows for easy, tool-free entry, while a smaller motor platform provides better access to the rear of the machine.
  • Improved Design: The top and bottom housing mating faces are now machined post-welding for an improved fit. The front hood wear plate has been redesigned as multiple pieces for a consistent fit and is now small enough for one person to install.
  • Extended Screen Life: Reversible screens offer longer life and more consistent performance.
  • Feeding Options: The SG1840 is compatible with multiple feeding options, including screw, belt, or pneumatic conveyance systems.

According to the company, the new updates not only boost performance but also ensure that it meets the evolving needs of its customers. SWEED adds that this new model represents a significant advancement, delivering even greater efficiency, reliability, and ease of use.
