To help protect yourself from malicious phishing attempts, it’s important to be cyber-vigilant and cyber-aware.

Here are 10 tips to help you spot phishing attempts:

  1. Check the sender’s email address: Ensure it matches the official email domain of our organization.
  2. Look for spelling and grammar errors: Phishing emails often contain mistakes.
  3. Beware of urgent requests: Phishing emails often create a sense of urgency to prompt immediate action.
  4. Avoid clicking on links: Hover over any links to see where they lead before clicking.
  5. Verify requests for personal information: Contact the sender through official channels to confirm the request.
  6. Be cautious of unexpected attachments: Do not open attachments from unknown senders.
  7. Watch for generic greetings: Legitimate emails will often address you by name.
  8. Look for inconsistencies: Check for mismatched logos or formatting that differs from our usual communication style.
  9. Use two-factor authentication: Enable it where possible for an added layer of security.
  10. Keep your software updated: Ensure your antivirus software and other programs are up to date.
  11. Bonus: ReMA and its Chapters do NOT use Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, or any other third-party cash collection service to distribute funds.

If you receive a suspicious email or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to ReMA for verification. Please stay safe and informed.
